Gutsy visited our school last year before our state testing began to help motivate our students. He was scheduled to come to GES this year as well. You can still experience the excitement through your device!

Here is a book for you to listen to for help in staying in charge of your emotions while at home. I hope you find your peace and are able to gain a solid focus on your life. Go outside and experience the beauty of nature!


Needing assistance during this difficult time? Here are some local resources to help you!

  • Church of the Highlands provides food distribution every Wednesday from 9-12 (or while supplies last). Pick up is at The Church at Wills Creek. One box a week per family that is represented.

  • Etowah County EMA:

For those seeking assists with Food Needs for your family. Be prepared to show ID and other info if requested. Only take what you need so that others can receive food for their families also. If you know of others please share on this thread. If you have questions please call the numbers below #covid19etowah

  • First United Methodist Church of Attalla--256-538-8491. First Wednesday of every month, 9-11.

  • Meadowbrook Baptist Church: 256-442-3550

  • Open Hands Ministry provides 40 pounds of food to those in need. Next serving date is April 19th.

  • Way of the Cross: 256-543-1003. Monday through Friday 11a to 12:30p (Closed for Good Friday, but FUMC Gadsden is serving lunch then)

  • Catholic Center of Concern: 256-546-0028. Monday to Thursday 8a to 12p Picture ID, SS Cards for everyone in the family. Current piece of mail with address and name.

  • Christ Central Church: 256-442-6625. Next food distribution is April 15th and it will be a drive thru. Call the church for details.

  • North Glencoe Baptist Church: 256-492-1910. By Appointment Only

  • Father’s Love Ministry: 1301 S. 11th Street, Gadsden, AL 35901--256-438-0828 April 18th is the next date and will be from 10a to 12p


Parents:

  • The brain requires safety and connection. Be intentional about cultivating both.

  • Create a "new normal” together using routines and play.

  • Provide helpful ways for children to contribute every day.

  • Consciously choose to see the best in others and circumstances.

KIDDOS! I miss you TERRIBLY! I love to see your smiling faces in the mornings as you come down the hallway towards your classes. This is a difficult time for all of us. But it's all going to be OK and we will be back to normal before you know it! You are AMAZINGLY AMAZING! Use this time wisely to learn different things, spend time with your family, and enjoy the great outdoors.
