EMPLOYMENT

Career

This means a first job, not the only job a young person will ever have. There are lots of reasons this is a good choice. Some jobs do not require a college degree...just a high school diploma to get started.  Some students are not sure what they want to do right after high school and choose to work to develop their employability and technical skills through gaining real-world experience. This helps them to decide what kind of work they like and what kind they do NOT like. This is incredibly valuable!  All careers will require additional learning over time, which can take the form of on-the-job training, having an employer pay for additional education, or attending college or other in-house training part-time.

Career Credentials

There are many employers, especially in STEM fields, that value certain credentials and experiences over a 4-year college degree.  Often, there is online curriculum available to prepare to test for credentials.

Several Career Academies at Emerald Campus and programs at Tolles Career & Technical Center include opportunities to earn these valuable credentials as part of their programs.
