About The Teacher

Hello,

I am your child's Title I Reading teacher.  This is my 23rd year teaching at Dallas.  Prior to coming here, I taught Middle School in the Philadelphia City schools for three years.  I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from King's College and a Masters of Education with a Reading Specialist and Special Education certifications from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

I have two children, a son and a daughter.   When I am not in school I love spending time with my family, watching the Phillies,  and doing ANYTHING outside.

Mission For The Class

Our goal is to help children keep pace with their reading class by working on the five essential components of reading: vocabulary, comprehension, phonics, phonemic awareness, and fluency.  I do this in a variety of ways depending on the child's developmental and academic level.  We read lots of connected stories, play phonics games, as well as much discussion of vocabulary and the "story of the week."  All of the work in the Title I room is specifically designed to enhance the work done in the regular classroom.  I strive to maintain a friendly and structured environment where children can feel free to learn and grow as a reader.
