What You Can Do to Help
There are so many environmental problems that sometimes it feels as if one person is powerless in the face of it all. But nothing could be further from the truth. Each one of us is powerful enough to make changes in our own lives, and by doing so, contribute to major societal transformation. If you need a little inspiration check the Goldman Environmental Prize website and learn how powerful people can be in bringing about positive change. We can do better, and each one of us must lead by example so others can see that it can be done. Do you need to be perfect? Of course not, just do the best you can.
So where to start? The first step is to educate yourself about your own individual impact and how you can minimize it. There are many resources available online but be very careful to follow only sources that are accountable for the information they place on their websites; as you know, not everything that is on the internet is legitimate and based on science, some are just attempts at confusing the general public with misinformation in order to benefit some particular interests. But there are many trustworthy sources with great information; I am listing a few links to some of them below. I am also providing ten tips to help you get started.
