IMPORTANT: Students must be current with their immunizations to attend school. Immunization compliance is documented by submitting a completed Universal Health Certificate to the school at the time of enrollment. A series of medical forms, School Health Documents for Enrollment Packet.pdf, should be turned in to the school as part of the enrollment process, and any updated forms throughout the school year should be submitted to the school nurse.
About Us
Military Road Early Learning Center is a new citywide standalone early learning center that opened in August for School Year 2021-2022. As a citywide school, there is no boundary and we are accepting applicants from all DC residents.

Grades: PK3 and PK4
6 total classes: 2 PK3, 2 PK4, and 2 self-contained special education classrooms (1 CES/1 ELS). All classes will implement the Creative Curriculum.
Aftercare Provider: Everyday Plan N Learn Child Development.
Uniform: No clothing uniform policy, but students must wear closed-toed shoes with heels (no flip flops or slides).
Campus History
DCPS was so excited to open a school in the history Military Road School building! One of the first schools to open for African American children in 1864 after authorization from Congress, the original structure was named for its location on a road used to transport soldiers and materials to nearby Fort Stevens during the Civil War. This building was added to DC Inventory of Historic Sites in 1998 and Historic National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
