I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself to those of you that I didn't have an opportunity to meet or speak with previously. Welcome to 8th gr SC & to CMVS if you are new to our school! I am very excited to have your child with me for 8th grade Science. Due to our A/B schedule, I will have the pleasure of having your child every other day.

I am proud to say that this is my 39th year in education....yes...I started at a very young age :)! I have been a classroom teacher in rural, urban and suburban settings in NC & MI where I have been honored by receiving numerous teaching and coaching awards. I resumed my teaching career in Charlotte, NC helping open Community House Middle School in Ballantyne 18 years ago starting in 6th grade SC & SS, then moving up to open 7th gr SC, and then again for the opening of 8th gr SC. I have the distinct honor of being chosen as CHMS's first "Teacher of the Year", and chosen as CHMS's first "Cavalier's Choice" recipient for the CHMS staff yearbook dedication. However, I am very proud to say that I was ready for a change and happily took the 8th grade SC position here at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Virtual School.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, a Master's of Education in Curriculum, Instruction and Leadership, as well as Administration and Central Office certificates, and an Athletic Training certificate in Sports Medicine, and an associate's degree in Nursing.

I am a very proud Mom of three amazing sons!!! My oldest son, Matthew, graduated from NC State -School of Sports management and is happily married. I am a PROUD grandmother to Maverick William, and expecting another baby from these 2 beautiful people in December... YAY!! :) Mark, my middle son, graduated from NC State - School of Biotechnical Engineering, and then Kent State. He and his new wife, both just started their careers as Orthopedic Surgeons in Greenville, SC. My 6'5" baby boy Michael, has a business degree from NC State and owns his own business. He is also happily married and just blessed me with my beautiful 4 month old granddaughter, Hadley Michelle!! YAYYYYY...I finally got a baby girl :)...and 3 BRILLIANT, BEAUTIFUL DILs. My baby girl Bella (10), is the world's greatest Husky/German Shepard mix :)
