Specials

  • We will have specials (art, PE, music) on a rotating basis. On the first day we will start with Art , Tuesday- PE, then Music/strings/band is on the first Wednesday. The rotation will then start over. SPECIALS WILL NOT BE ON THE SAME DAY EACH WEEK. Please refer to the weekly newsletter to track. Students will have connectors in the mornings and specials in the afternoons. Connectors (technology, library, and guidance counseling) are 30 minutes long 3x a week. Specials (Art, PE, and Music) are a little under an hour every day.

Homework

  • Students will not be assigned weekly homework. There will be optional review and practice ideas in the ELA newsletter that will go out every Monday. There may also be times where we see a student needs additional practice on a skill throughout the school year. We will get in touch with you using the Seesaw app to let you know exactly what needs attention.

Parent Involvement

  • Please take time to sign up for our PTO!! Dave Hardesty is the head of Stocktrail's PTO. There will multiple opportunities for you to join us for classroom activities and field trips. Look for these opportunities in the newsletter.

Rules and Expectations

  • We have very high expectations for ALL of the students within our classes and will expect them to accept nothing less from me as well as set high expectations for themselves.
  • This year we will be using an iPad app called “Class Dojo” for behavior management. The app is really fun for the kids because it encourages them to work hard for points based on their behavior. On a daily basis, the kids will be shown the Class Dojo screen with a fun monster like avatar image of them several times a day. They get to earn points for their avatar by doing positive behaviors like doing their work, being a good listener and being helpful etc. They lose points when they show negative behavior such as not following directions.

Room Parents

  • We will be working with room parents this year. These parents will help organize parties, special projects and events, etc. This year’s events will include:
    • Fall Festival
    • Friendship Feast
    • Mother’s Day Tea
    • Dr. Seuss Day
    • 100th Day of School
    • Field Day
    • STEM Day
  • All parents are important to us. No one will be left out. Room parents will be called upon during the year to help with various activities. Occasionally you will receive a note or a call from us for help! The class parties will include a winter holiday and a Valentine’s Day party. We would like to thank each of you in advance for your help this year.

Birthday

  • We love to celebrate birthdays! We ask that you consider the list of allergies that will be sent out at the beginning of the year (no nuts, etc.) We also ask that you consider not sending cupcakes as the frosting oftentimes ends up on our new carpet. Cookies, rice-crispy treats, etc. would be a better option.

After School Change in Plans

  • If there is a change in your child’s after school going home plans, PLEASE notify the office with a phone call. This way we know where to send your child at the end of the day☺

Snacks

  • Each class has a snack time included in the schedule. We will ask that parents supply one class snack (goldfish, pretzels, Chex mix, etc). We usually don’t run out until second quarter. When that happens, we will kindly ask for help in donating more.

Conferences

  • Conference will be held with both teachers. Please know that if you choose to bring your children, they will be asked to play in another room during the conference as Señor Berbel will speak English at this time.
