Assisted Reader for Children Volunteer

Could you help a child to read and change their life forever?

Volunteer Adviser

Banburyshire Advice Centre is looking for dedicated, caring, empathic team players to join the Advice Service. It is essential to be non judgmental. Good ICT skills will be needed.

We help people with benefit forms, form filling, general advice and issuing of Foodbank vouchers.

The position can be rewarding helping individuals and there is opportunity to develop friendships with colleagues and we from time to time meet socially and in the past have organised community events, ran stalls to raise funds for the charity. A DBS is required for this role

Full training is given and the role may be in the community or at one of our Advice centres.

Volunteers can volunteer for one or two days a week, with occasional meetings. Travel expenses of 45p a mile is given. A commitment of at least a year is preferred.

Volunteer Community Engagement Officers

Banburyshire Advice Centre is looking for a Community Engagement officers. The role is voluntary and involves engaging with the local community, forging links with local businesses, charities, attending meetings, visiting businesses and talking to local groups about the services we offer. An element of the role is to help raise funding in the local community by encouraging residents to hold tea parties, fundraising events etc.
The role is about establishing links with business and local groups in order to raise funds and to tell people about our services. The work involves phoning people and writing letters. A DBS clearance is required for this role. A mileage allowance of 45p is given.

Volunteer Radio Presenters / Ward Visitors

Want to get into radio or support patients at the Horton General Hospital? Radio Horton is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join its membership. The radio station, which launched at the Horton General Hospital in 1964 has around 30 members whom assist in visiting patients on the wards and care homes, or presenting a radio programme to patients or residents of local care homes. Many of today's big names such as Chris Moyles, Scott Mills, Greg James, Ken Bruce and Philip Schofield began their careers through hospital radio. No experience is necessary and full training is given. You must be 16+ and will need to undertake statutory and mandatory training and a DBS check to perform this role.

Volunteer Mentor

Big Brothers and Sisters commit their time to build lasting relationships with a young person, helping to build their self-esteem and achieve their potential through a wide range of positive activities. We match volunteers and young people across Oxfordshire.

Volunteer mentors are matched with a young person between the ages of 7 and 11 and will usually spend time with them 2 to 3 times a month, e.g. playing football in the park, trying out some baking, going to the cinema

You'll be able to support the young person to achieve their goals and have the opportunity to introduce them to new interests and experiences- whether that's learning guitar, perfecting their front crawl, learning how to cook, or planning a day trip to London!

We are looking for extra support for Cherwell Larder around the holidays. We need volunteers to help with various tasks related to the operations of the Larder.
