Earn & Learn
It has been a busy term 2 of Inquiry. Our subject has been 'Earn & Learn', in which we look at all things related to money. We have explored town maps/planning, pay slips, tax, bills, housing, groceries and jobs. Now we are in the process of setting up our classrooms as little economies, or 'towns'.
SRG will be known as Chickennuggetville for the purpose of Earn & Learn, and will be an economy consisting of businesses selling furniture, electrical, clothes and cars (among other things), and there will also be public servants like treasurer, bank manager, real estate agent, deputy PM, utilities manager, supermarket manager and police officers that will have various responsibilities during Earn & Sessions.
Once the sessions are up-and-running, the students will be getting a great feel of money management, saving goals/strategies and financial responsibilities. In previous years students have found this program to be a lot of fun, and I am expecting this year to be the same, if not more fun, seeing as we will be running the sessions for an entire term!
