Music Activity for Virtual Learning Days -

Monday, December 21 + Tuesday, December 22

Watch

Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker: "Russian Dance"

Play

Orchestra Game from The Magic Flute

After watching the video above, discuss the following questions with the people in your household:

  1. What does it look and sound like to be a respectful audience member?

  2. Dynamics: Was the music loud, soft, or both?

  3. Tempo: Was the music fast, slow, or both?

  4. Mood: How did the music make you feel?

  5. Connections: Think about the dancers and how they must have practiced for this performance. Do you think they do any of the exercises you do in Phys Ed? Think about the costumes they wear and the way the stage looks. Do you think artists were involved to design those stage sets and costumes?

Click above to play a fun music game! After listening to the sound, click on the instrument you think made that sound. How many instrument sounds can you match to their instrument picture?

  1. Click PLAY.

  2. Click Start.

  3. To hear the sound again, click Repeat.

  4. If you guess the wrong instrument, you must keep guessing until you are right.

  5. Once you identify the correct instrument, it will appear in the picture above!

  6. To hear the next instrument, click Next.

  7. When all instruments are identified, the game will play music for you!

About Mrs. Grisier

I graduated from L'Anse Creuse High School - North in 2010. Four years later, I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors degree in Music Education with a Choral Specialization. At BGSU, I was a member of the Honors Program, and I participated in A Capella Choir, Collegiate Chorale, Vocal Jazz, and in small student groups throughout the College of Musical Arts as well. Singing is my main focus, but I have also loved playing recorder with my students at AES for the last 6 years! This year, I am excited to be the choir director at the high school and to develop beginning choirs at the middle school while continuing to teach K-1 general music at the elementary. I also direct the high school fall play, high school musical, and the elementary musicals. Outside of school, I have been a member of several church choirs, and I have the wonderful privilege of directing the Junior Choral Society, a select community children's choir.

I currently live in Archbold with my husband, Adam, but originally, I am from Michigan! I love to spend time visiting family and friends, and I also enjoy reading, traveling, and eating lots of chocolate!
