WOMEN DEVELOPMENT CELL

Basirhat College makes a continuous effort to provide equal opportunities to both genders in terms of their activities in the institution and to promote gender equity, gender empowerment. The institution provides equal chance in participating and voicing demands on academic and nonacademic issues for all stakeholders. Special attention and support is given to the girl students from rural, social and economic backwardness. The Women Development Cell of Basirhat College was established in the year of 2017. The main aim of the cell is to provide students with an adequate space to think critically on gender related issues by involving them in different gender based activities. 

Mission:

• Creating awareness about the need of gender equality.

• Sensitizing the students towards the special needs of all genders.

• Eliminating deep rooted beliefs and myths of gender bias and discrimination.

• Prevention of the exploitation based on gender by spreading awareness among the students about the social, legal and constitutional rights of women.

• Supporting and sharing the anxieties, problems and difficulties faced by students irrespective of gender and sexuality.

• Providing equal career opportunities to all the genders.

• Build a gender sensitive and inclusive campus
