Grammar lessons in 3rd grade focus on helping students understand sentence structure, mechanics, and parts of speech. Lessons are explicitly taught and reinforced during Writer's Workshop.

UNITS OF STUDY IN OUR 3RD GRADE GRAMMAR PROGRAM:

• Sentences (simple and compound)
• Subject/Predicate
• Capitalization and Punctuation
• Nouns: Common/Proper, Plural/Singular, Possessives, Abstract Nouns
• Verbs: Irregular verbs
• Commas
• Quotations
• Prefixes and Suffixes
• Adjectives
• Adverbs
• Mechanics are taught throughout the entire year.
