A little bit about Ms. Dougherty....
Born in New Jersey during the last millenium, she moved to Maryland with her family when she was five years old. She is the eldest of four girls and her mother is a musician and her father is an English teacher. You can guess who she takes after (hint, don't ask her to sing). When she was six years old she performed in her first play, A Midsummer's Night's Dream as the fairy Mote. She went to Holton Arms School for high school where she was captain of the softball team, Vice-President of Student Council, and involved in Thespians, producing West Side Story her senior year. After graduating high school she attended the University of Maryland where she studied Art History. After college she moved to Baltimore and fell in love with the city. She served in the Peace Corps as an English Teacher in Panama and from there went to the University of Texas at Austin for her Master's degree in Bilingual/Bicultural Education. While studying in Austin she learned that Dual Language schools are the best and when she graduated she came back to Baltimore, the city she loves, to teach at Archbishop Borders, the school she now also loves!
When she's not at school you can find Ms. Dougherty on a hike with her dog Bruto (pero no lo es), at the yoga studio, curled up with a book, cooking for friends, seeing a movie at the Parkway, or working on an art project.
Un poco sobre Ms. D
Nacida en Nueva Jersey durante el último milenio, se mudó a Maryland con su familia cuando tenía cinco años. Ella es la mayor de cuatro chicas y su madre es una músico y su padre es un profesor de inglés. Usted puede adivinar a quién ella se parece (sugerencia, no le pida cantar). Cuando tenía seis años actuó en su primera obra de teatro, A Midsummer's Night's Dream como el hada "Mote". Ella asistió a la Escuela Holton Arms para el colegio donde fue capitana del equipo de softbol, Vicepresidente del Gobierno Estudiantil, y participó en Thespians, produciendo West Side Story su último año. Después de graduarse de la escuela secundaria asistió a la Universidad de Maryland, donde estudió Historia del Arte. Después de la universidad se mudó a Baltimore y se enamoró de la ciudad. Ella sirvió en el Cuerpo de Paz como Profesora de Inglés en Panamá y de allí fue a la Universidad de Texas en Austin para su Maestría en Educación Bilingüe / Bicultural. Mientras estudiaba en Austin aprendió que las escuelas Dual Language son las mejores y cuando se graduó regresó a Baltimore, la ciudad que ama, para enseñar en la Escuela Archbishop Borders, la escuela que ahora también ama.
Cuando no está en la escuela, puede encontrar a la Sra. Dougherty en una caminata con su perro Bruto, en el estudio de yoga, relajandose con un libro, cocinando para sus amigos, viendo una película en el Parkway o trabajando en un proyecto de arte.
