Objective:

This filter is designed to identify systematic reviews in MEDLINE (Ovid).

Methods:

The author combined two strategies (McKibbon and PubMed Clinical Queries) and removed any duplicate terms.

Results:

The author stated that no formal research was conducted to test the filter and thus it has not been validated.

Discussion:

The filter has not been updated since 2003 although there have been amendments to the PubMed strategy in the meantime.

ISSG commentary:

This is a highly sensitive strategy which captures a very broad range of evidence based literature.
