CHIEF FINANCIAL EXAMINER
SALARY: $7,399.06 - $8,221.18 Monthly

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Insurance is seeking a Chief Financial Examiner located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position is responsible for the management of the examination section of the Insurance Department and ensures the fair and consistent financial regulation of insurance entities operating in the state of Wyoming.

Participates in strategic planning and achievement of goals.
Plans, directs, monitors, and coordinates work activities in areas of financial examination, financial analysis, insurance company licensing, and corporate transactions.
Ensures compliance with Wyoming insurance laws and regulations.
Assists in monitoring the department's budget and projects revenue estimates.
Develops policies and procedures for the financial examination and analysis of insurance companies.
Supervises, trains, and evaluates examination and financial services personnel in order to meet department goals and objectives.
Supervises and reviews the financial analysis and examinations of domestic insurance companies, and the exams of pre-need funeral trusts.
Reviews and approves insurance company, risk retention group, accredited reinsurer, and service contract provider applications to do business in Wyoming.
Oversees the revenue collection and accounting/bookkeeping function of the Department.
Maintains the Department's compliance with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Accreditation Standards.
Responsible for written and verbal communication with insurance companies, consumers, legislators, insurance regulators, state agencies, and banks regarding statutory, accounting, licensing, and trust deposit requirements.
Responsible for maintaining the Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) designation and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license by attending the appropriate amount of continuing education required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Accounting or Finance)
Experience:
2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Accounting or Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Financial Examiner
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Certification as a Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
5-7 years of progressive work experience (typically in Accounting or Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Financial Examiner
