What is Student Support Services?

CTE Support Services is a resource for ALL students enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) electives to help gain additional academic assistance on specific skills, supplemental career exploration counseling and assistance in developing post secondary transition plans.


Student Support Services Helps Students to Focus On:

• Catching Up with Assignments

• Study Skills and Test Taking Strategies

• Matching CTE Courses with Future Careers

• Exploring Postsecondary Choices

• Nontraditional Career Exploration


High School Service Delivery Model Grades 9-12

• Conduct Learning Styles Inventories to All 9th Grade CTE Students and Give/Explain Strategies that will Help Students Succeed in CTE Courses as Well as Other Courses

· Can participate in IEP, 504, ESL team meetings as needed to Promote the CTE aspect towards Transition Goals

· Provide and/or Coordinate Supportive Services (such as tutoring, makeup assignments, testing with modifications, etc.) during lunch periods and on selected days after school.

· Maintain a Resource Lab in Room

· Collaborate with CTE teachers and other Relevant Service Providers to Promote Student Success

· Coordinate, Assess and Evaluate Strategies and Interventions to Make Sure they are Working in Meeting the Specific Needs of Students in CTE Courses

· Present Transition Services Lessons in Selected Classes

· Facilitate In-Service Training to help Improve Strategies/Techniques in Meeting the Needs of Students

Guidance, Counseling, Career Development

· Make Contact with Students with grades in CTE Courses below 60; Counsel and Provide Needed Assistance

· Conduct Recruitment Activities to Ensure All Students have Access to All CTE courses During the Registration Period.

· Assist Students by Providing Information about Career Clusters, Community College Articulation CTE Information, .

· Acquaint Students and Parents with Services and Support Services Available when Applicable

How Can I Help Students?

The Student Support Services Coordinator will serve all eligible students in CTE classes in the following ways:

How Will I Help You?

· Administer Learning Styles Inventories

· Test students with testing modifications as needed

· Provide Help in Organizing Coursework and Materials

· Provide review and makeup work sessions for students during lunch periods/after school

· Provide Help in Identifying School and Possible Community Resources

· Notify teachers of students receiving services; aid teachers with strategies to help identified students

· Keep up with chronic attendance issues and work with Intervention Team in an effort to try and correct issues.

Provide individual and/or group sessions on:

· Senior transcript interpretation

· CTE Course recruitment activities

· Study Skills

· Vocational Rehabilitation referrals
