Linux Geek

I started using Slackware Linux sometime in 1996. Since then I've used Redhat, then Mandrake, then Debian, then Gentoo, and have now been settled happily with Ubuntu for some time.

In 2001 I got a job with a local ISP. I very quickly learnt about all sorts of cool things, like Radius, configuring Cisco routers, DNS, Web Hosting, Email etc.

In 2003 I decided it was time to start my own ISP. I started out offering web hosting using User Mode Linux. Unfortunately due to financial reasons, I was unable to continue offering this service.

I've also contributed to a number of open source projects. Such as:

    • Early testing of the JBoss implementation of EJB3

    • Contributed RCMM-32 send code to LIRC

    • Various contributions to the Apache Lenya CMS
