Learning Te Reo Maori? Then look no further than our own Apple Distinguished Educator, Hohepa Spooner and his colleagues at AUT.

Te Whanake is a set of textbooks, study guides, CDs, teachers' manuals and a dictionary for learning and teaching Māori language. This website also provides access to a further range of associated free online resources for independent learning and interaction.

They have created this incredible resource using Apple tools and it is freely available to kiwi teachers to use in their classes.

Much of it is available as iBooks, podcasts and in other Mac-friendly ways. And check out their iPad Apps too.

Want to give it a try? Start here....

Scanner Pro transforms your iPhone and the new iPad into portable scanners. It allows you to scan checks, agreements, whiteboards, pages and even multipage documents. After scanning you can email them or upload to Dropbox, Google Docs and Evernote. It creates pdfs or jpgs.

Since I bought this app I have never used a scanner.

Most people know that Command + Tab allows you to quickly roll through your open applications.

Less people know that Command + Tilde toggles through open windows in the SAME application. This is particularly useful in Web browsers if you have lots of them open.

To Microsoft, or Not?

The need to own the Microsoft Suite becomes less and less important in education all the time.

If you can't open Microsoft files in Pages/Numbers/Keynote, then you have the power of Google Drive at your call and can upload those files to your Google account and they will open there. No need to keep up with the latest versions of MS ;)
