Dr. Peter E. Hart is an independent consultant on intellectual property and technology strategy. He also serves as Chairman of Ricoh Innovations, Inc., a company he founded in 1997 to create new technology and business opportunities for the worldwide Ricoh Group.

Career Highlights

  • Founded and/or led half a dozen companies and international research centers
  • Delivered commercial software solutions having multi-million–dollar licensing fees
  • Invented, and developed the theory, of some of the most widely used procedures in modern computing
  • Co-authored one of the most-cited textbooks in the field of computer science
  • Holds over 70 US and foreign patents
  • Was the first non-Japanese person to serve as a corporate officer of Ricoh Company, Ltd.
Hart holds a B.E.E degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University.  He is a Fellow of the IEEE, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the American Association for Artificial Intelligence.
