Finding Journals at Richmont
Example of a General Subject Search
Example of Finding an Article from a Citation
You have the citation - now how can you find a copy of your article?
- The old faithful path (maintained manually - not all journals listed)
- Follow these links for Microsoft Word Documents listing available journals and years held
- For Print Journals held in the libraries. (For now, the only way to find print journals).
- For Electronic Journals related to Psychology.
- For Electronic Journals related to Religion. (some overlap into counseling).
- The GALILEO gallop
- Log in to GALILEO
- Choose "Journals A/Z"
- Either browse or search for your title - if you find your title the icons will lead you to holdings
- If you have a citation choose "Find Cited Article" on the left
- Enter journal title or ISSN and article title / author / etc. information
- The Google alternative
- Google Scholar can also lead you to electronic journal holdings.
- On the search page set "Preferences"/Library Links to "Richmont Graduate University"
- Click in both boxes and save
- Search for your article
- When you find your article click on the links for SFX@ - if full text is available you will have a link
What is the best method to use? I believe that GALILEO is good now and will eventually be the best way to go. If you are already searching Google Scholar then you will certainly want to have your preferences set and use the SFX links. If you want print journals then continue to check the link under option #1. At this stage I still sometimes use all three methods.
