About Me and

Why I Teach

I grew up in Oklahoma outside of Oklahoma City in a farm community. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BS degree in Mathematics Education. After college I started teaching in Moore, OK while working on my Master's degree. While at Moore High School, I met my husband and after graduating with my MEd in Mathematics Education, we moved to Colorado. My husband, Brian, and I have three children who attend(ed) Littleton Public Schools; Connor(2020), Beth(2023) and Sean(2023). This is my 30th year of teaching.

Why do I teach?

I probably chose to be a teacher for very different reasons than other teachers. While growing up in Oklahoma in the 80's, I always loved Math. I had a passion for challenging problems and courses, but I was never encouraged to go into a field where you needed lots of Math. Math could be fun for girls, but it was really a field predominately for boys. It wasn't until I was in college majoring in dance that I decided I wanted to encourage young women in the field of mathematics. I wanted to show young women that you can be anything in this world if you work hard. That is why I became a Math teacher. :)
