5th Grade Healthy Choices Program

5th grade is a time when students begin to be strongly influenced by their peers. Students have a need for healthy decision-making skills. The student presenters provide the 5th graders with important skills on how to resist negative peer pressure and make healthy choices. 5th graders are also challenged to think about and anticipate the situations/problems they may be faced with through middle and high school. Students discuss, identify and practice refusal skills/problem solving strategies.

These lessons provide an opportunity for 5th graders to hear from and interact with older students that are making healthy choices. The students act as role models and peer educators for the younger students.
