Some Fun Ways to Practice Trick Words
1. Have your child write each word on 5 scraps of paper. Have a family member hide these words around the house and play "Hide and Seek" for the words. When your child finds each word he/she needs to spell the word aloud and then keep searching.
2. Gather some crayons or markers and write each word ten times using ten different colors.
3. Take out a cookie sheet and pour flour, salt, shaving cream or sand onto the sheet. Spell each word 5 times.
4. Get some clay or dough or newspaper and spell each word by forming it with this material.
5. Use a bar of soap in the bath tub to write your spelling words on your thigh 3 times.
