Alone (Reading Level Y) - This is about a young boy that becomes stranded on a deserted island and must survive until found. I really enjoyed this book, but it has some intense moments and strong language in certain parts.

I Funny A Middle School Story (Reading Level T) - I love the author James Patterson. This is not one of my more favorite books, but I think students will really like it. The genre is humorous fiction, however, the main character has had some tragedy in his life and is in a wheelchair. Although the main story is of Jamie becoming a comedian, there is an underlying story about him coming to terms with his current situation.

The Doublecross (RL - V) - Hail Jordan has grown up in a super spy facility. He has trained his whole life to become a spy like his parents. When his parents go missing, he decides to go looking for them. He doesn't necessarily like what he finds out when he starts looking. He must make a major decision of what to believe.

Reformed (RL - W) - This short book is about a group of friends who must go to "bully" camp for the summer. In this comedy, they learn not only was what a bully is but also what a true friend is.

Making Bombs for Hitler (RL Y) - Lida becomes a prisoner of the Nazis. We follow her life over the several years she is forced to into labor for them. This is not a true story, but as historical fiction, it reads like one. Many

events are heartbreaking, but true heroes shine through.

Firegirl (RL-V) - Tom is a quiet 7th grader. His life changes the day Jessica shows up at his school. Jessica has been severely burned and most students are afraid of her. This book shows how one small show of compassion

can change someone's life.

The Goldfish Boy (RL-W) - Matthew has a severe problem with germs. His fear is starting to debilitate his life. A mystery in the neighborhood might be just what is needed to help him start to pull himself back together.

With a Name Like Love - Mrs. Littlejohn asked me to read this. I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but it is one of my favorites. Ollie's father is a traveling preacher. She and her sisters travel all over the South for revivals. When they come upon a small town in Arkansas, she comes across a mystery that compels the family to stick around a little longer than usual.
