All About Me

My name is Cherie Duncan and I am one of the Resource teachers at Stone Academy for the 2022-2023 school year. I am beginning my 28th year in Greenville County Schools and I could not imagine working in any other profession. This is my 9th year at Stone Academy.

I hold a BS degree from the College of Charleston, a MA from Furman University, and an Ed.S. from the University of South Carolina. I love taking graduate classes and learning how to be a more effective teacher.

My family and I live in the Blue Ridge area. My husband Jimmy works for a construction company. My daughter Christie lives in Blythewood and is a also a teacher. My son Alex is a senior at Charleston Southern University where he is studying to become a chaplain. We stay busy taking care of all of our cows, chickens, 1 cat and our two crazy dogs Olivia and Agnes.

Things to Know About Me:

• I love Diet Coke! All of my kiddos know that Diet Coke is my favorite morning, noon or night beverage.

• I have a sweet tooth, but I am working hard to eat healthier.

• I love old movies! I especially enjoy John Wayne westerns and anything with Jimmy Stewart, Katherine Hepburn or Carey Grant.

• My favorite bird is a Hummingbird. I have at least 4 hummingbird feeders around my house from Spring to Fall. When I get home from school, I love to sit on my front porch while the dogs play and watch the hummingbirds eat.

• My parents just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

• My favorite city is Charleston. If I win the lottery, I would buy a house on Folly Beach and retire :-)
