Including the Classics for Kids;
Connecting Classical Music with “Sing, Say, Dance & Play” in the Orff-Schulwerk Approach.
A variety of engaging lessons designed to foster singing, classroom instrument skills, movement and creative expression will also be paired with pieces of classical music to help students develop active listening strategies. Classical pieces featuring Haydn, Grieg, Saint Saens and Tchaikovsky will inspire students to use their imaginations, dramatize what they hear, and develop a descriptive music vocabulary. Bring your recorder, wear comfy shoes and come prepared to enjoy some fun Schulwerk lessons that go hand-in-hand with classical gems to further enhance your curriculum.
Children’s Literature and Music
Connecting Music and Children’s Literature with simple techniques, movement, vocals, and more.
Take a walk into an imaginary land where you will play with snow, visit a farm, or dance in the bayou. Children’s literature has a way of drawing our imaginations out and music can bring those imaginations to life. In this part of the workshop, we will explore a farm with a flea, go to the bayou where we will dance with the fireflies, or take a walk in some snow. Your colleagues will love your connection to the other disciplines. Come join us as we use the Orff-Schulwerk to bring children’s literature to life.
