Full Professor (INF/01) at the Sapienza University of Rome, Department of Computer Science.Since 2001. Assistant Professor in the same Department from 2001 to 2015 and Associate Professor from 2015 to 2022.

Graduation in Computer Science on 14/07/1988 at University of Salerno, Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, with a score of 110/110 cum laude and a thesis with title : "Structures and visual languages." In the thesis various approaches to image segmentation were analyzed, with particular reference to techniques of structural type.

The research topics focus on the study of Biometric systems (face, iris, multibiometric systems), Pattern Recognition, Image Processing, and Human-Machine Interaction, particularly issues of accessibility and multimodal interaction, and formerly e-learning and personalized teaching.
