Fall 2023

It is extremely important to get off to a great start academically.  Please know, though, your child will learn a great deal this year that includes  more than academics.  Students develop the academic and social skills necessary to succeed in high school and beyond.

Your student may have a significant amount of homework and a lot more reading to do.  Having good study habits is essential for student success.

You can play a major role in helping your student develop habits that will help them be successful not only in the ninth grade but beyond.  Here are some things you can do:

1.     Insist on regular school attendance.

2.     Encourage your child to use a planner every day to keep track of assignments, tests, etc.

3.     Help your student set academic goals.

4.     Encourage your student to take advantage of P.R.I.D.E. when given the opportunity and use any extra time in school to get started on homework.

5.     Help your student develop a good morning and nighttime routine.  (I know they're getting older and this may cause seemingly undue friction and stress, but remember our goal.  We're looking to build habits that will serve them in postsecondary education and beyond.)

6.     Sleep is essential.  Make sure your student is getting enough rest.

* FYI - The first three-week progress will be going home on .  If you have not seen any from your child, please speak with them and contact the school.
