Beaver Weekend 2024 - May 17-19

Held at Camp Grimes, our purpose is to help the Council prepare for their summer programs. Both Arrowmen and Non-Arrowmen will have an opportunity to contribute to our Council camp. This is appreciated by the summer camp staff members and is a great way to earn points for the Leadership in Service Award. Beaver Weekend is also the first of the three Ordeal held each year to allow candidates to seal their membership in the Order of the Arrow. Brotherhood conversions are also offered.

The Ordeal is a weekend experience in which those elected as candidates to the Order of the Arrow and undertake a spiritual journey to discover the true meanings of leadership, service, and the Brotherhood of Scouting.

Our Third Ordeal and final Ordeal of the year is held at Belk Scout Camp.  This event also serves as the third opportunity for candidates to become members of the Order of the Arrow.  This event traditionally centers around the Ordeal itself, but it is good time to prepare Chapter spirit items for the Fall Fellowship Spirit-War.  Brotherhood conversions are also offered.

Catawba Lodge 459:  2023 Inductions Bulletin #1

Update posted 1.13.23

Order of the Arrow Membership Eligibility:

As the COVID-19 pandemic wanes, the National Order of the Arrow Committee deemed it appropriate to allow all of the pandemic-era policies, including those relating to membership, to expire.  In addition, the national committee decided that as of January 1, 2023, individuals selected as candidates for membership in the Order of the Arrow retain that eligibility for a period of 18 months from the date of their selection.  After that period, individuals may be considered again for selection if they continue to fulfill the eligibility requirements.  This increase from the previous 12 months will give lodges and individuals additional time for induction opportunities and aligns with the 2022-23 National Business Plan objective of membership growth.  For the latest membership information, please visit oa-bsa.org/about/membership.

Catawba Point Information

Updated: 1.12.24

Catawba Point is our new meditation garden on the property of Camp Grimes near the new Belk Dining Hall.  It consists of a Flagpole, Totem Poles from our 2015 Dixie Fellowship incorporated with local plants and flowers.  But your help is needed to make PHASE 2 of this dream come true.  Through the purchase of commemorative bricks and commermorative jacket patches, you can help see this plan to fruition.  Help honor a loved one such as an Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver Recipient, Woodbadge Participant/Staff Member, or someone special who has passed.

Thank you for your support in this endeavor, it is greatly appreciated!
