Counseling Workshop

Counseling Classes to Counseling Workshops

School Counselors assist in the personal/social, academic, and career development of all students. Direct service is integral to the role of the school counselor and is provided through individual student planning, multi student groups, and responsive services.  Here in Bow, school counselors have the unique opportunity to also provide a highly developed counseling curriculum that is geared toward personal and social growth as an individual.

Counseling workshops are similar to meetings where individuals have the opportunity to engage in discussions around a specific topic, learning new information and reflecting on the information presented. These workshops align with our belief that personal and social growth and the learning that occurs in these areas cannot be defined by a grade. It is through reflection and self evaluation that students will begin to discuss, explore, and self evaluate the topics during each workshop.

The Counseling Workshops

Students in grades 7&8 will participate in a counseling workshop on specific topics. The delivery will be through the Specials rotations. During this 22 day rotation, students will engage in a collaborative meeting facilitated by the school counselor to explore the topic(s) (noted below), gaining and implementing strategies to foster personal, social, and academic growth. Due to the nature of the curriculum, students will receive a SP (successfully participated) mark when reporting out.
