The Symbolism of the Tree
May 5, 2024
“Snow–white! Snow–white! O Lady clear!
O Queen beyond the Western Seas!
O Light to us that wander here
Amid the world of woven trees!”
Elven Hymn to Elbereth (Varda), J. R.
R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1966) 88.
"Who among us has never stopped at the foot of a tree to put our arms around it so as to touch it and listen to it?" Master Jenny Smith, SRC, discusses the traditions across cultures which venerate the consciousness of the tree. Here, in Spring is the time to fall in love with flowering trees.
