The EX6150 NETGEAR Range Extender does not detect a NETGEAR router's 5GHz wireless band, nor is the 5GHz link intermittent.

Try swapping the frequency interface on your router if the extender is unable to detect your 5GHz wireless router wifi link or if the extender happily submits sporadically to the 5 GHz band.

1 . In order to change your router's wireless channel:

Shift your extender closer to your router first.

Note: Abnormal 5GHz wireless band extension connections can be caused by inappropriate positioning. See where to put my NETGEAR Wi-Fi Range Extender for more details? Or how far can I get from my router on my EX8000 Nighthawk Tri-Band WiFi Range Extender?

2. Log in to interface with your router. For more info, see How do I log in to my home router with NETGEAR?

3. To access the Wireless Settings tab after your router logs in successfully, press Wireless.

4. Look for a channel for a wireless network under the (5GHz).

5. If the router is set to Auto or a channel between 52-64 or 100-140, switch it to the 36-48 or 149-161 channel.

Note: Even if you are using a channel between the ranges suggested above, to fix intermittent connections, change the channel to something different.

6. Click Apply. Click

7. Reconnect the extender to the 5GHz band and see if it has enhanced the connectivity.

Note: In order to be able to see your 5GHz router network name (SSID) in the list of available networks you may expand, you can need to update your network list.
