Admitted students will receive instructions on how to complete the orientation and registration steps listed on this page.
May 22 - June 21
REQUIRED: Sign up for the PSEO Registration Day Zoom webinar on July 24 (due June 21).
You are required to register for the Zoom webinar even if you can not attend it. If you cannot attend the webinar, a video showing how to register will be provided to you before registration opens on July 24.
REQUIRED: Complete the PSEO First Steps online modules in Canvas (due June 21)
You’ll be asked to complete a set of required online modules at your own pace by June 21. More information about this will be sent to admitted students on May 22.
June 19
OPTIONAL: PSEO Parent & Guardian Zoom webinar for families of admitted students from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Family members of students admitted to our program for the 2024-25 academic year will be invited to attend a Zoom PSEO Parent & Guardian webinar. PSEO advisors will provide an overview of the U of M Twin Cities PSEO experience, followed by a question-and-answer session.
The session will be recorded for those unable to attend.
Early June - Middle of July
PSEO Advisor Collaboration Period
Once students sign up for the PSEO Registration Day webinar, they will be assigned a PSEO advisor. Their advisor will share a Google document with course recommendations and initial resource suggestions personalized to the student. Students can write their comments on the shared Google document and go back and forth with their advisor as they prepare for fall registration.
July 24: PSEO Course Registration Day
PSEO course registration opens at 9:45 a.m. for students who have signed up for the Registration Day Zoom Webinar.
REQUIRED: Attend the Registration Day Zoom Webinar (9:00 - 11:00 a.m.)
The PSEO advisors will demonstrate how to register for courses and answer questions as students register. If students cannot attend the Zoom webinar, a video showing how to register will be provided to students before registration opens.
After Registration
OPTIONAL: Zoom Advisor Drop-in Hours
Individual Zoom advisor drop-in hours for fall registration support will be available after registration opens on July 24. Dates and times will be shared with students closer to the registration day.
August 14
OPTIONAL: Campus Exploration Day
At Campus Exploration Day, students and their families hear from the U of M Office of Admissions before going on a campus tour. After that, you can pick up your books (if you've requested them in advance and they are available), visit your classrooms, and meet other PSEO students. This is not an orientation but rather a time to explore campus. Morning and afternoon sessions will be available.
Disability Resources & Accommodations
The University of Minnesota values disability as an essential aspect of diversity. The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is a unit within the Office for Equity and Diversity with an office in the McNamara Alumni Center.
The DRC serves degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking undergraduate, graduate, and professional students across University programs and disciplines, as well as University employees and visitors. The DRC works with students who have various disabilities and health conditions, including less-apparent disabilities like chronic health and mental health.
The DRC is a resource for exploring reasonable accommodations to reduce disability-related barriers and provide equitable access while maintaining essential requirements and learning objectives within courses/programs. Accommodations may relate to aspects of the course (e.g., exam or assignment accommodations), housing, parking, course load, lab or fieldwork, learning abroad, and more. Accommodations cannot compromise the core learning outcomes or the fundamental nature of the course or program. Accommodations are intended to be implemented proactively and cannot be required retroactively.
Students may connect with the DRC at any point, and there are certain times in the academic semester that tend to be busier for the DRC, so it’s beneficial for students to reach out as early as possible. Those new to the DRC can make an appointment by completing the student intake form and following the directions in the confirmation email. Students may also email drc@umn.edu.
If you have already connected with the DRC, continue to work with your assigned Access Consultant to address any new barriers or impacts that may come up throughout the semester.
The Disability Resource Center also encourages students to explore support resources/strategies and skill-building, such as EffectiveU or connecting with offices affiliated with academic success, as well as mental health support if needed, in tandem with using accommodations.
The process of determining reasonable accommodations differs between high school and college. Learn more about these differences in the DRC's "Transition from High School to College" table.
Note: connect with the DRC even if you think you might want accommodations. If you had an IEP or 504 plan in high school, or any specific diagnosis that may impact your learning while in PSEO, you should reach out to the DRC. Contacting them is just the start of a conversation. It doesn't lock you into anything.
