At the U of M, microeconomics is always a prerequisite for macroeconomics. There are two separate economics sequences at the University of Minnesota:
Principles of Microeconomics (ECON 1101) & Principles of Macroeconomics (ECON 1102) through the College of Liberal Arts. The focus is on the theoretical perspectives of economics.
ECON 1101 and ECON 1102 are available in an online format, or on the Minneapolis campus
Business Economics (ECON 1165) through the College of Liberal Arts "introduces the fundamentals of microeconomics and macroeconomics to business/other students who desire a primer on the working of an economy in a mutually dependent world." This course is required for Carlson School of Management majors and is equivalent to ECON 1101 and APEC 1101.
Principles of Microeconomics (APEC 1101) & Principles of Macroeconomics (APEC 1102:) through the College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences. These courses are more practical and applied in nature.
