Hypothesis is a social annotation tool that allows students to highlight and annotate readings online and to respond to one another’s annotations. Think of it as adding notes in the margin of a page or book, only digitally. And everyone is working on the same page and can read and respond to one another’s comments.
Hypothesis makes it possible for students to read a document together and to have a discussion in the document. Hypothesis is good for collaboration, building community, and developing shared understanding of texts.
Our self-paced Hypothesis course introduces faculty to the collaborative annotation tool Hypothesis — an innovative means of encouraging students to engage with academic texts and with each other.
No UCSC workshops at this time, please contact us or visit office hours if you'd like a demo. Hypothesis Partner Workshops are listed on their site.
