What is Hypothesis?

Hypothesis is a social annotation tool that allows students to highlight and annotate readings online and to respond to one another’s annotations. Think of it as adding notes in the margin of a page or book, only digitally. And everyone is working on the same page and can read and respond to one another’s comments.

What is Hypothesis good for?

Hypothesis makes it possible for students to read a document together and to have a discussion in the document. Hypothesis is good for collaboration, building community, and developing shared understanding of texts.

KEY RESOURCES

Our self-paced Hypothesis course introduces faculty to the collaborative annotation tool Hypothesis an innovative means of encouraging students to engage with academic texts and with each other.
