What we are learning: 4th 9 weeks Report Card Skills

Foundational Reading Skills

• Demonstrates and applies 4th 9 weeks phonics skills when reading

* Decodes words with long vowels (VCe and vowel teams) 

Reading Comprehension

• Identifies the central idea and supporting evidence of informational texts (with adult assistance).

• Discusses rhyme, rhythm, repetition, and alliteration in texts.

• Responds to a variety of texts by using text evidence to support understanding.

Writing

• Develops and follows a plan for writing information about a topic of interest.

• Writes and revises pieces of writing, choosing the genre to communicate ideas.

• Revises and edits drafts using grade-appropriate grammar and conventions.

Math

• Uses objects, pictures, and expanded and standard form to represent numbers up to 120.

• Counts forward and backward from any given number up to 120.

Science

• Compares and describes the components of soil by size, texture, and color.

• Demonstrates and observes that air is all around us, such as wind.

• Records weather data and objects in the sky using pictures, numbers, and words.

Social Studies

• Identifies examples of goods and services in the home, school, and community and the ways in which people exchange for them.

• Explains and provides examples of the condition of not being able to have all the goods and services one wants.

• Identifies individuals who created or invented new technology and understands how technology affects daily life, past and present.
