December 2013
- Dr. Fugh-Berman spoke on "Promoting Profitable Drugs" to the Canadian Agency on Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) in Ottawa. CADTH is an independent, not-for-profit agency that is funded by Canada’s federal, provincial, and territorial governments to provide evidence-based information to health care leaders.
- December 26: Dr. Fugh-Berman was quoted in Financial Times' article, "Ethics: End of the Hard Sell?", on increased scrutiny of pharmaceutical industry marketing.
November 2013
- November 24: On the front page of the New York Times's Business Section, Dr. Fugh-Berman was quoted in Natasha Singer's in-depth article on Low-T marketing, "Selling That New-Man Feeling". “There are tests that everyone will fail — that is the idea,” says Dr. Fugh-Berman, who directs PharmedOut, a Georgetown project that educates doctors about drug marketing claims. “'Do you feel tired after dinner?’ Depends how long after dinner. We all do eventually. It’s called sleep."
October 2013
- October 31: Shannon Brownlee (of the New America Foundation and Lown Institute, author of Overtreated, and regular PharmedOut conference speaker) will lecture on "Is That Really What Your Patient Needs or Wants? The Case for Protecting Patients From Overuse" on Thursday, October 31st, from 1-2:30 p.m. in the New Research Building auditorium at Georgetown. The talk is part of a graduate class, but you are welcome to attend!
- October 22: Dr. Fugh-Berman was quoted in The Telegraph in "Tired and grumpy? Sounds like it could be a case of Low T" by Nick Allen.
- October 21: PharmedOut held its second successful seminar on October 21st. Elina Hemminki MD, DrPh, of the University of Helsinki spoke on the "Regulation of Clinical Trials in Finland, Canada, the U.K. and the U.S." Dr. Hemminki spent 10 days with PharmedOut as a Visiting Professor.
- October 17: We helped Dr. Susan Wood and other colleagues at George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services with a report to the D.C. Department of Health on the use of antipsychotics among the elderly in Washington, D.C. Findings are summarized in this press release, which links to the full report.

- September 24: Chief Editor of Public Library of Science (PLOS) Medicine cited "The Haunting of Medical Journals: How Ghostwriting Sold 'HRT'" by Dr. Fugh-Berman as one of seven articles PLOS published that made a difference.
