ASU School of Social Work
Community Hub

Welcome from Director Lightfoot

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the School of Social Work HUB. My name is Elizabeth Lightfoot, and I am the Director of the School of Social Work at Arizona State University.

The ASU School of Social Work is large with multiple campuses that reflect the communities we serve. There are more than 2,200 students on five campuses (Phoenix, Tucson, West, Yuma, Online) studying in urban areas (including in Phoenix, the nation’s fifth largest city), rural tribal communities, in the vast borderlands, and around the world online. We are proud that the ASU School of Social Work has 13,000 alumni worldwide.

ASU and the School of Social Work are committed to diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice. We are embedded in a College devoted to public service and we have an outstanding staff and faculty deeply committed to social work education. We are committed to interdisciplinary approaches to problem solving and see the community’s needs as our learning opportunities. The ASU School of Social Work is one of the few schools with an explicit mission to serve not just our community but the unique and historic populations of the Southwest that comprise our community, including immigrants, refugees, and tribal communities. Our research faculty are amongst the most productive in the world, leading the country in examining social issues and designing and testing interventions for improving society.

It is our hope that this HUB will serve as a valuable resource to you in our very important work. I invite you to explore all that the ASU School of Social Work offers through this resource HUB. Thank you for being part of our social work community, and thank you for your commitment to the ASU School of Social Work.

Giving Opportunities

In 2021, the School of Social Work celebrated 60 years of education, training and research. One of the best ways you can honor our legacy and support the School is to join us in providing the best possible education for our students. As you can imagine, the past several years have been difficult and disruptive for students as they have had to adapt to the pandemic while navigating many financial obstacles that go beyond tuition expenses. In honor of our landmark anniversary, we invite donations to our student emergency fund to help cover unforeseen expenses and alleviate financial burdens so students can focus on their studies.
