Where you gonna live?

Tuesday 1/9 Journal - If you had $800 a month to spend on housing, where would you live? What would you have to pay for on a monthly basis? Describe where you would like to live in detail. (7-10 sentences)

Tuesday & Wednesday Classwork - Work with the person sitting next to you (your new roommate) to find an apartment that you could rent (on zillow.com) that would fit within your $800 per person budget (groups of 1 can budget for $900). Remember to include your monthly utilities in your budget. Prepare to present your new apartment to the class. (Presentations are scheduled to begin the last 20 minutes of class on Wednesday)

Your presentation should be done on a google slides (google's version of powerpoint) and shared with jcotter@assabet.org

Your presentation should have 4 slides:

1) picture of your place (or link to picture that you will show us), price, and any other interesting or relevant information

2) other expenses that you will have to pay (and how much each will cost)

3) a list of "pros and cons"

4) a SMART goal of how you will pay for your living expenses each month

Wednesday 1/10 Journal - Imagine that you and your friends decide to get an apartment. What are 3 expenses that you will have to pay besides rent? How much do you think these expenses will be? Are they fixed, variable, or periodic expenses? Explain your reasoning.

Thursday 1/11 Journal - What have you learned from the process of doing your apartment project? If you didn't learn anything new, what did you already know? (7-10 sentences)

Part 1 - What are 5 questions that you will either research or ask your landlord when you decide to rent your first apartment?

Part 2 - What 3 things are most important to you when you are trying to decide what apartment to rent?
