Program Schedule

AWAKEN Inquiry & Adventure Okanagan is a linear program that runs from September to June each year. Students can remain in the AIAO program from their year of entry until graduation.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 3:00 pm 


While linear, the AIAO Program runs 4 course terms. Sept - Nov, Nov - Jan, Feb - Apr, and Apr - June. Students at AIAO complete core courses (numeracy, literacy, etc.) through cross-curricular, multi-age classes. AIAO uses the BC curriculum and is deeply rooted in the core competencies.
AIAO students have the opportunity to graduate from our program with a BC Dogwood Diploma.

Students are enrolled in Fulton Secondary and attend all their courses within the AIAO program. Courses at AIAO are offered with an environmental, nature-based, and holistic Indigenous educational lens.

Students are enrolled in 8 courses a year, as is required in secondary education in BC.

Grade 10 - 12 students have more choices in how they direct their education, particularly within the electives they choose. Typically, grade 10 - 12 students in AIAO complete a course schedule as depicted below.

*Electives for students in grades 10, 11 and 12 depend on student interest and the direction they take in their education.
**For grade 11 & 12 students who have demonstrated an ability to learn independently, a collaboration with V-Learn is available for select courses (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Calculus).
