Influential Women of

Yellow Springs

This project began in Fall 2018 and is a part of the Yellow Springs High School U.S. History Course. The course is taught thematically and one of those themes is "The Experience of Women in Their Struggle for Equality. The project began with students only creating banners that would be on display during Women's History Month celebrating local women from Yellow Springs. The banners would line Xenia Avenue and would include an image and some text associated with the women. The project first involved the Yellow Springs Arts and Culture Commission but soon blossomed to include the Yellow Springs News and the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Thanks in large part to grants from the Art Academy of Cincinnati and the Yellow Springs Community Foundation, the project was a tremendous success. Below is a digital version of what was published and circulated with the Yellow Springs News on March 20. The articles that students wrote but were not chosen for publication are found afterward.
