Image Use

You must respect copyright laws when creating products that use images!

For products to be used in school only, fair use typically applies.

What is fair use? "Fair use is a legal doctrine that promotes freedom of expression by permitting the unlicensed use of copyright-protected works in certain circumstances. Section 107 of the Copyright Act provides the statutory framework for determining whether something is a fair use and identifies certain types of uses—such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research—as examples of activities that may qualify as fair use." (taken from https://www.copyright.gov/fair-use/more-info.html, accessed September 12, 2017.)

Fair Use DOES NOT include posting to a website or any public display.

For products to be shared publically, including the Internet, you must: Have written permission to use an image, photo, painting, etc. including any and all intellectual property from the owner

OR

Use images from Creative Commons resources or resources purchased for this use. Some Internet based resources permit you to use their work (ie: NASA) provided you give them on page credit.
