Congratulations to Yorktown High School senior Gregory Dalietos, who has earned a coveted spot in the NYSSMA All-State Choir, distinguishing him as one of New York’s top high school musicians.
Gregory is set to perform at the NYSSMA All-State Conference in Rochester, which runs from November 30 to December 3. The event involves intensive choral rehearsals, leading to a grand finale concert that will showcase talented vocalists from around the state.
To be considered for the All-State Choir, Gregory performed at the NYSSMA Up-County Solo Festival in April. Gregory delivered a remarkable performance of a Level 6 song, “Serenata Gitana,” showcasing his Tenor 1 range. In addition to this, his exemplary sight-reading of a Level 6 piece showcased his ability to read and comprehend music on the fly, earning him a perfect score of 100.
Gregory credits his accomplishment to the supportive atmosphere at Yorktown High School's Chamber Choir and the entire high school Music Department: “It’s like we’re our own community and everybody supports each other. Ms. Stock is a great teacher and she makes the class very inclusive. The Music Department here, in general, is fantastic. We have just amazing teachers who make every student feel like they’re part of a family.”
Join us in congratulating Gregory on this fantastic achievement. We can't wait to see him shine at the NYSSMA All-State conference!
