We're thrilled to introduce Christine Kane, our new Supervisor of Special Education at the Yorktown Central School District.
Ms. Kane's career began with a deep passion for speech-language pathology, eventually becoming a dedicated speech-language pathologist in the New York City Department of Education for over a decade. During that time, she was involved in supporting students and teachers in addressing the various student learning styles within the classroom. Her transition to administration was driven by her desire to provide even more support to students and teachers.
In her first month at Yorktown, Ms. Kane has already begun making a positive impact. She has actively engaged with teachers, fostering open and productive conversations to ensure that every student's unique needs are met. She emphasizes that her experience thus far has been incredibly rewarding and that her new role at Yorktown Central School District feels like a second home. “What’s rewarding is knowing that the work we’re doing is making an impact on the students and helping them to succeed.”
Ms. Kane noted that she was drawn to Yorktown for the District’s commitment to cultivating empathy and educating the whole child, stating that it felt like the ideal place for her. “I feel like you can’t truly educate a child without also supporting their social-emotional growth.”
We're excited to have Ms. Christine Kane as part of our Pupil Personnel Services team and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to make in the lives of our students. Welcome to the Yorktown Central School District!
