The Yorktown Central School District is excited to introduce our newest School Resource Officers: Officer Danny David and Officer Tim Curtin. Their addition to our K-3 schools reinforces the District’s commitment to fostering a supportive and secure environment for our students and staff. We are grateful to the Board of Education and the entire Yorktown School Community for their unwavering support in ensuring that all five of our school buildings now benefit from dedicated SROs.
Officer David, who is joining the Mohansic Elementary School family, started his law-enforcement career with the New York State University Police before joining the Yorktown Police Department in 2018. Officer David has an active presence in the community and is often spotted engaging with young residents and playing basketball with them in local parks. Not a stranger to a school environment, before his law enforcement days, Officer David supported students at Mount Vernon High School in an after-school program. Reflecting on his new role at Mohansic, Officer David commented, “I enjoy working with youths of all ages and guiding them as they embark on their developmental journey.”
A product of the Yorktown Central School District, Officer Curtin is excited to serve at Brookside Elementary School. Prior to joining his hometown police department in 2015, Officer Curtin was involved in coaching youth sports in Yorktown, something he's thrilled to revisit once again. As a parent to three young children, his commitment to creating a positive school environment is deeply personal. Officer Curtin said he is off to a great start at Brookside. “All the interactions with the kids are so positive. It puts you in a good mood to come to work each day.”
The District’s SROs play a pivotal role in not only ensuring the safety of our students and staff but also in becoming integral members of our school communities. They serve as role models, enhance community relations, and support educational initiatives like the high school’s Law Enforcement Club. We look forward to the positive contributions Officers David and Curtin will bring to our schools.
