At the June 5 Board of Education meeting, we had the privilege of honoring remarkable volunteers and partners who have made invaluable contributions to our District.
Since its establishment in 2018, “School Partner Recognition Night” has been an annual event dedicated to recognizing these unsung heroes of education. We extend our deepest gratitude for their tireless efforts in spearheading community events, securing grants, and supporting various aspects of our educational and extracurricular programs.
The following groups we recognized for their exceptional efforts: District PTSA, SEPTA, YHS PTSA, MESMS PTSA, Crompond PTSA, Brookside PTSA, Mohansic PTSA, Foundation for Excellence, First Nighters, Huskers Club, Alliance for Safe Kids, and Science Research Foundation.
Dr. Hattar was proud to shine the spotlight on these volunteers, stating, “Your service to our district is so deeply appreciated. Everyone is so busy. We appreciate you finding the time to be here for the children of our District.”
Additionally, we would like to extend our recognition to Aramark, our dedicated food service vendor for over two decades. Aramark's commitment has far surpassed their contractual obligations, making them a true school partner of our school district.
Recently, as part of a PTSA fundraiser, a Mohansic first-grader had the honor of being named “Superintendent for the Day.” Aramark staff enthusiastically engaged with the student, discussing lunch menus and even making adjustments based on the first-grader's recommendations. This delightful interaction showcased Aramark's willingness to go above and beyond in ensuring student satisfaction.
Aramark further demonstrated its commitment by generously donating its time and resources to support the Special Olympics Pioneer League Dinner Dance, which took place last month at Yorktown High School. Organizing food service for nearly 300 athletes, coaches, and aides is no easy task, but Aramark stepped in, providing volunteer assistance and food donations for the entire event.
Mike Rosen, the director of Pupil Personnel Services, expressed his heartfelt gratitude and personally awarded medals to all Aramark food service employees who selflessly dedicated their time to the Dinner Dance.
Mary Jo Hernandez, the food services director, spoke with great pride about Aramark's partnership with the Yorktown Central School District, emphasizing their shared commitment. “Each day we come to work at Yorktown because we really enjoy what we do. We love serving your children. But most importantly, because we feel like a partner.”
We extend our sincerest thanks to all our partners for the immeasurable contributions you make to our district. Your dedication and support are instrumental.
