Brookside is teaming up with a local charity to make this Valentine’s Day a special one for active-duty U.S. military members.
The students have been working hard to collect donations and create heartfelt cards as part of their “Operation Cupid” initiative. The items will be shipped overseas by United for the Troops.
Earlier today, United for the Troops founder Jim Rathschmidt collected the cards and donations and explained to the students how important their gifts are.
“We have a lot of men and women in the military who are far, far away from home and they don't see their moms and their dads and their families for a long time. So, all the stuff that you collected from our wishlist is going to go over there... When they open it up, they don't even know who it's coming from, but they know it's from back home, and they know it's from people who are thinking about them and wishing them well.”
Amazing job, Brookside!
