This winter, the New York Water Environment Association and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation sponsored a poster contest for middle school students in New York State, challenging them to design a “Watershed Superhero.”
Out of over 500 submissions from 30 schools, Mudanvit Goyal, a sixth-grader from Yorktown, was selected as the top winner by NYSDEC and NYWEA staff members!
While many students opted to create traditional aquatic superheroes with spandex suits and catchy names, Mudanvit took a unique approach, submitting a thought-provoking poster that urges viewers to “be a superhero” by protecting watersheds. His inspired artwork stood out among the submissions, earning him well-deserved recognition.
Mudanvit's design will be featured on the NYSDEC website and will also be included in the upcoming 2024 NYWEA calendar alongside the other 13 winning entries. Congratulations to Mudanvit for his impressive and impactful artwork!
