On Friday, Sept. 9, prior to the varsity football game, the Yorktown Central School District was honored to recognize the brave men and women of the Yorktown Police Department, the Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department, the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
In recognition of their service to the community, the Yorktown Huskers Club donated an engraved brick for each agency to be placed in the Charlie Murphy Field courtyard located at the northern end of the stadium.
The national anthem was performed by Yorktown Police Officer Angel Garcia and "God Bless America" was performed by Yorktown High School junior Annabelle Newberger. A pre-game helicopter flyover was then carried out by the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.
The night was capped off with a great performance by Yorktown High School's varsity football team, who improved to 2-0 with a 24-9 win over Fox Lane.
