Transportation for Nonpublic School Students

Transportation requests for students attending nonpublic schools must be received by the District no later than the April 1st preceding the beginning of the next school year. If a student moves into the District later than April 1st, the request must be received within thirty days of establishing residence in the District.

All late requests, however, shall be considered by the Board on the basis of each case's merits, including whether there is additional cost for the transportation and whether the excuse for the late request is reasonable.

Transportation will not be provided to nonpublic schools when District schools are closed for inclement weather or legal holidays. When District schools are on a delay due to inclement weather, all nonpublic school transportation will be on a similar delay. No transportation will be provided to or from nonpublic schools for field trips or other extracurricular activities.

Cooperative Transportation

In an effort to minimize the cost of transportation to special schools, the District may, when feasible, participate with neighboring districts so that students are transported on a space-available basis at no cost to the District.
